Kia what is homelink

Is it possible my garage opener is too old? I successfully paired mine with an ancient Stanley opener, which had the old 'dip switch' code setting method that was the standard prior to the newer rolling code technology. It paired pretty much immediately, and that opener was seriously old - probably 30 years. The only issue I had was with an older car with an older Homelink system - that required a wireless 'bridge' to accept the old Homelink signal and restransmit to the new opener using the new security protocol.

But on the Stinger - no problem with either, and I also have a gate opener paired to it on the second switch. That also paired pretty well immediately. Lots of 'how-to' guides online, that aren't specific to the Stinger - have a look at a couple and make sure you are using the right technique. Also, look up your old opener as well, and make sure it doesn't use some proprietary technology that isn't Homelink compatible.

Good luck! Search on here, there is a thread about this where I posted a video that made all the difference for me when trying to get it to work. I found that when "copying" the code from the dedicated clicker to the mirror, that i needed to use a button that was NOT already assigned to the opener.

All of my "clickers" had three buttons. When holding clicker next to homelink and using button 1, i could not get car to pair to opener at all. As soon as copied button 2 signal to mirror it worked just as the manual stated. Where do you buy badges for your Stinger?
