You may be in a position to find a different university you'd rather go to and have time to avoid making a hasty decision.

Some students wil prefer to wait until they have their results and see what university courses are available to them on the day through Clearing and apply directly. This can be risky, as you may not get the right course, but if you're making a late decision, especially whether university is for you or not, this can be a good strategy for you.

Bear in mind not all universities advertise places in Clearing, for example, Oxford, Cambridge and for courses with high entry requirements such as Dentistry. Many universities run open days for Clearing applicants and their parents and carers to visit, view the facilities and talk to staff and students.

Even if there isn't an official opportunity to visit, you can still contact the university and try and see the place before making a firm commitment.

When does Clearing open? If we make you an offer of a place in Clearing you'll need to accept it using a Confirmation of Clearing Application form which we can talk you through and send to you. We'll then be in touch with advice about online enrolment, accommodation and information about life as a student in Brighton.
